Another Quick Trip Away

Having thoroughly enjoyed our mini-break to Malta and being unable to travel outside Europe for the whole year, I was very pleased to receive an email from British Airways offering another special deal 5* Hotel and Business Class travel to various European destinations plus a loyalty bonus if you booked 3 trips.  A quick check with Ian to get his approval and I started booking.  This is the first one and we're off to Dubrovnik, fondly known as The Pearl of the Adriatic.

Of course when I went to school and studied geography the Republic of Yugoslavia was still in existence, but this has since broken up and now the Balkans have all become independent countries and Dubrovnik is now in Croatia (but only just, being very far south).

Our flight was 06:45 but as it was Gatwick we could use Valet Parking again and give ourselves a few precious moments more in bed.

Knowing the BA lounge didn't open until 05:15 we tried to gauge it so we had just enough time to clear security but not so long that we were sitting on the floor waiting for it to open (like last time).  In the event we were still a few minutes early and the queue was massive but luckily it moved quickly once the doors were open.  The food and drink available was the same as in March and thoroughly delicious.  Having missed out on the "Full English" breakfast on the flight to Malta (they'd run out after just 3 rows) I'd selected our seats as far forward as possible so our choice would be available but to be honest having eaten so much in the lounge probably a yoghurt would have done!
